"And then I found a hammer under the table so I grabbed it and BANG hit him over the head!" Said a male human while everyone else in the barracks listens to the tale, "you humans sure sound tuff! It's a shame you can't do that to a Rynar."
said a male Neshior, "well it's not like I'm supposed to have been fighting but I sure as well will make sure you don't die on the field, as if I haven't already" he whispered at the end, not being heard by some but getting a small chuckle out of those who did "looks like meal time" said a green eyed white coat female Lupari, everyone in the barracks checks the time on their Yutris to find that she was correct and with that everyone heads off to the mess hall meanwhile the Lupari holds her hand out for the human, this Lupari was Combat Medic Corporal Shida who was the humans guardian "I hope you didn't say that because you want to eat me" the Field Medic Corporal Shaun said as he smirks, "maybe I will, but I think your too cute to do that" she said as Shaun steps onto her hand with a light chuckle, "well I hope I'm not so cute you forget where the mess hall is, I'm starving" he said as he sat down and made himself comfortable "Me too" she said as they went to the Mess hall behind everyone else.
As they made their way to the mess hall they caught up with a friend "Shida! Shaun!" Called Dasala a gold eyed tan scales female Sissach "Dasala! I thought you left or something" said Shaun, "where have you been?" Continued Shida, "I was doing guardian training, I probably should have told you" the Sissach replied with a bit of excitement in her tone, "So how is it going?" Asked Shida, "actually I already finished! It's going to be a while until I get my own charge so I was wondering if I could carry Shaun?" Dasala said with the excitement in her tone getting more noticeable "Not right now."
Shaun replied "I'm hungry, maybe after lunch" he continued, "alright" Dasala said with a bit of disappointment in her voice, as they continued their short walk to the mess hall Dasala thought of a question "why don't you use mechs?"
Shaun shrugged and said "personal preference", "you just want to be with me don't you" Shida said with her smug wolf grin "n-no! I just like the fur over the metal" Shaun replied "So you do!" Shida said "Alright fine yes I do enjoy your company and your cute wolf face" Shaun replied knowing that he couldn't get out of this, Dasala laughed as she said "you two make a great couple!" "Nac ydw!" Shaun shouted "oh, looks like you ticked him off" Shida said as Dasala had a mix of confusion and laughter on her face as they entered the mess hall.
Shida and Dasala sat down by themselves on a table a bit away from where everyone else was sitting, Shida laid her hand out on the table for Shaun to hop off where he then proceeded to sit at a mini scaled version of the table for him to sit on, "Uhh, what did you say back there? It didn't quite translate" Dasala asked "oh, it's Welsh for no Welsh is one of the lesser known Terran languages so it makes sense it didn't translate" Shaun replied "yeah he's even teaching me it, all though he ain't the best teacher" Shida added "hey! I do what I can with what I'm given" Shaun said "alright I'll go get our food" Shida said while she went off to do just that, Dasala lowered her self and placed her snout on the table looking directly at Shaun "you two are definitely a thing" she said whispering as if it mattered to the translator "no we ain't" Shaun replied sounding a little annoyed "are you sure?" she said while blowing some air in his direction "ydw ni yn."
he said "he said 'yes we are'" Shida said while putting down everyone's food of different meat and fruits, nothing Terran of course "knew it" Dasala said smirking while she lifted herself back up "way to ruin my secret" Shaun said with a annoyed expression which quickly faded.
After a bit of peaceful eating, a male amber eyed black furred Tordenchi sat down next to Dasala with a tray of again alien meats and fruits "Reketa! Nice to see you!" Said Dasala "that's sergeant Reketa to you, and yes it nice to see you too Dasala, been a while hasn't it" Reketa replied "well how's the sergeant?" Shaun asked "good, you should really use your mech spending all your time with Shida isn't healthy" Reketa replied sounding a little desperate "I'm fine, sarge we've been doing this for almost 5 years she wouldn't do anything with me if I disagreed" after he said that Shida moved in a finger to stroke Shaun which he pushed away and she went back to eating her food, proving his point "I know but-"
Reketa said before being cut off by Shaun "Reketa you know full well I'm always in my mech in the field and only in her paws when moral is low" "I'm sorry, I shouldn't push you if you don't want to" Reketa said as everyone went back to eating, soon enough Shaun, Shida and Dasala finish their food and they prepare to leave as Dasala puts a hand out for Shaun and he hesitates for a moment but quickly gets on "guardian training I'm guessing" said Reketa "yep!" Dasala said while she watched Shaun settle in her hand "never understood the appeal myself but I suppose they can't always use the mechs" Reketa continued as the three left the mess hall.
"So, are you happy?" Dasala asked getting the attention of Shida interested in his response "scales are... interesting to say the least, but I think it's fine" Shaun replied while stroking her scales "a break at last" Shida said jokingly "oh no, I love that fur! I'll be back for it soon enough" Shaun said while the two giggle, "so what are we going to do?" Asked Shida "I fancy some air" said Shaun "I would have thought you would had wanted to go to the hive" Dasala asked "I just feel like chatting" Shaun responded "alright then" Dasala said as they exited the main military base into the compound.
Just above the walls of the compound you could see the bluish-green grass across the mountains with a couple of trees with blue leaves and the brown rocks that show on the cliffs, the three found a bench with a perfect view of the surroundings and they sit down and Dasala puts her hand in between them where another non human could sit and Shaun hops off while Shida puts the back of her hand next to him which Shaun then proceeds to stroke and fidget with the fur "so what happened while I was gone?" Dasala asked "nothing much, some new recruits arrived 2 of which are human but I barely seem them out of their mechs like most of them" Shida replied "what's up with the sergeant?" Dasala said curiously "one of the new humans tripped and hurt his self on one of the tables, now he's acting like their the most fragile things in the world" Shida said sounding a little annoyed "then why don't you say anything to him?" Dasala asked "anything I say on the matter could compromise my guardian status" Shida replied when she noticed a odd feeling on her hand, she looks to see Shaun lying on the back of her hand "I love your fur" he says as she brings her other hand to him opening the palm for him to get on, he gets up and gets on her palm as she raises him up to her snout "the little human likes my fur? Guess I'll let you live" Shida jokes as Shaun hugs her muzzle, "I hope my charge will be open to affections" Dasala said "if your lucky" Shida replied with all attention on the small human at her snout "this little human wants more affection" Shaun says stroking her snout "hmm, alright then little human" Shida says with joy as she proceeds to lick him and nuzzle him "adorable" Dasala said as she check her yutri before continuing "we got to sleep now" "aw, I was enjoying that" Shaun says "don't worry little human we'll continue tomorrow" Shida says trying not to burst out in laughter
The three enter the barracks, Dasala heads to her assigned bed while Shida drops Shaun off at the human barracks before heading to her bed, Shaun enters the human barracks to find four other humans three of them were sleeping the other seemed a little annoyed or angry, it was hard to tell in the darkness of the barracks non the less Shaun went to his assigned bed and slept for the big day tomorrow, the assault on a planet in the Rynar collective's space.
Shaun woke up feeling great a day with Shida always helped him sleep, he saw the other humans walk to the mech lounge meanwhile he went to the transfer pad in the non-human barracks he got a short awkward stare from one of the other humans as he headed out, when he arrived at the transfer pad he found Dasala waiting for him "where's Shida?"
Shaun asked "she's working on her fur, so I'm taking you to the mess hall for breakfast and then we're leaving the base at 10:00 but we should meet up with Shida before then" Dasala said sounding excited as she puts her hand on the transfer pad for Shaun "alright then" Shaun replied climbing into her hand as they head to the mess hall.
"Dasala?" Shaun said while she carried him through the hallway "yeah?" Dasala replied curiously "I changed my mind, scales are pretty nice" Shaun said happily as Dasala sighed in relief knowing that a human wouldn't be disgusted by the feel of her scales, after a short silence they arrive at the mess hall.
As they enter Shaun quickly notices Shida at the table they normally sit at with her food and his ready, Dasala drops Shaun off at the table as she goes and gets her own meal "I thought you were working in your fur" Shaun asked confused "no I needed to pick something" Shida responded as she began to stroke Shaun who was sitting at the mini table eating his meal "what is it" Shaun curiously asked "I'll show you when we finish our food" Shida replied, a few seconds after Dasala comes back with her food and sits next to Shida "so, were shipping out in 2 hours" Dasala said a little nervously "yeah back in the frontline once again" Shida replied trying to sound confident "don't you two big girls worry, I'll treat your wounds" Shaun said as the Lupari and Sissach chuckle making Shaun smile "well if I'm lucky any wounds I get Shida can fix" Dasala said almost a little worried "are you okay Dasala?" Shida asked "yeah, yeah just shouldn't have brought up that subject" Dasala responded sounding a little upset "if you need to go be alone for a bit go ahead" Shaun said sounding worried "yeah okay I'll go do that" Dasala said before leaving presumably to go to the barracks "well" Shida said before continuing "now that we're alone let me show you what I got" Shida grabs a bottle of what looks to be some sort of soda and two straws, one being notable thinner presumably for use by a human, from under the table "what's that?" Shaun asked "Sorarche, a soda made by Lupari and it's my favourite! I want you to try some" Shida says as she puts her hand out for Shaun to climb onto which he does, she raises her hand up to her neck and proceeds to open the bottle making a familiar sound but a rather unfamiliar smell but it was kinda nice, Shida placed the straws into the bottle and allowed Shaun to grab his straw "go on, try some!" Shida encouraged and after some hesitation he did, tasting the strange yet delicious beverage Shaun quickly began wondering how the hell he even managed to drink it, something to do with the material he thought before Shida asked "so how it is?" "Strange, delicious but strange" he answered Shida smirked before using her own straw to drink with him, after a while it became 09:00 and Dasala came back, the two had finished the drink, "the ship is landing!" Said Dasala as she runs over to see it Shida with Shaun already in hand gets up and follows her to see the ship land.
They exit the main structure to see the sight of a huge combat ship landing as serval non-humans guided the ship in similar to how humans did it back on Terra, "wow" Dasala said, "yeah it truly is something" Shaun replied after a few moments Shida put her hand on Dasala's shoulder and asked "you want to tell us what happened earlier?" Dasala stuttered for a moment before saying "not now... Maybe another time?" "Thats fine, another time" Shida replied, after a few moments the ship lands and and a inspection crew is seen entering the ship, "I think it's time you got your mech."
Shida asks "yeah" Shaun replies and off Shida went to take Shaun to the mech lounge.
They arrive at the mech lounge, a rather ugly room with nothing but a couple of catwalks and one mech in the corner of the room, Shida walks over to the mech and let's Shaun off at the catwalk where he then proceeds to walk over to his mech and opens the hatch revealing a civilian control system Shaun was not a fan of getting something sticked into him so he waited for a different way to control his mech, despite the disadvantage of using it, suddenly a few dings are heard before a voice says "boarding is now in place, please proceed to the landing pad and board the ship" "guess we better get going" Shida says as Shaun's mech boots up "guess we better" was heard over the mechs speakers as they walked out of the mech lounge to board the ship.
