Carpet Jungle

Katherine finds herself lost in a dense, fiber-y jungle, but the worst is yet to come.

How did Katherine keep getting into messes like this? Sure, it had been a little while since the last time, but even so, the unlucky fox found herself in another predicament. Bad enough that she was the size of a crumb, but she found herself stuck to the sole of a socked foot!

She had learned quickly enough that she could not get the colossal human’s attention, and had settled for just trying to avoid them. Unfortunately, whether by fate or design, she found herself in their path, and with one single step, she was trapped upon the sock-clad sole.

Hammering step after hammering step, Katherine was pounded against the floor as the human moved about. However, on the plus side, she felt herself getting more and more free instead of getting pounded further in. Luck seemed to be on her side as she managed to drop off the foot.

Katherine landed with a WHUMP onto the floor, ducking and covering her head even as the sound and rumble of the human’s footsteps grew fainter. After a few moments, she picked up her head, looking around nervously. Carpet tower towered over her like a thick, fabric-y jungle.

Up was the name of the game, but climbing up one of the fibers wouldn’t help much. She would need to find some sort of furniture if she had any hope of getting out of this. So Katherine began making her way through the carpet jungle, toward a large coffee table in the distance.

That’s when she heard the dragon’s roar.

Katherine’s blood froze in her veins as the familiar, deafening sound of a vacuum cleaner roared over the jungle. She looked around frantically, trying to discern its direction. But panic overtook her and she ran ahead blindly.

She realized her mistake too late, as she saw she was rushing right toward the vacuum. Stopping short, she tried to retreat, but it was upon her too quickly. With a cry, Katherine flew through the air, sucked up into the vacuum cleaner along with the rest of the dust and debris.

Bouncing against the tubed interior, Katherine would finally end up deposited into the dust chamber, bruised, battered, but conscious. She groaned, coughing as she was surrounded by the dust and debris that had already been collected, the hum of the vacuum loud in her ears.

Finally, after what seemed like forever, the noise stopped, leaving Katherine’s ears ringing. But she was only further jostled as she felt the vacuum being opened and the bag being taken out. She tried to get a footing, but failed as it was tipped over, sending her tumbling down.

Katherine, along with the rest of the bag’s contents, fell from the vacuum back down into the waiting pit of the human’s garbage bag. Buried under the dust, Katherine coughed and yelled upwards, only to watch the trash bag opening shut, leaving her trapped in darkness and filth.
