An error with Tails' new invention turns him tiny. Hopefully his best buddy will help him out~

His screwdriver twisted in the final screw of the device. “Almost done,” Tails said as he admired his work. A new modification to the teleporter he had been working on for the last few months. The technology involved with the back end was intense, but the ingenious little fox had finally wrapped his head around it. After a few weeks of design and construction, he almost had it built.

Once this was completed, he’d finally be able to move anywhere on the planet in an instant. Yep, that meant he could travel even quicker than Sonic. That was just a side benefit though. The real practical use of this would be in public transport, moving troops to fight Eggman’s armies, or the other billion things he could do with technology of this caliber.

But he’d be lying if he said he wasn’t looking forward to the day when he could challenge Sonic to a race across the globe, then smirk at him when he beat him there. Tails grinned at the imagined look on Sonic’s face. His jaw hanging in pure shock, all as the fox leaned against some wall like he had barely even done anything.

He couldn’t wait.

With a big and playful look, the fox went back to work on the machine. There were just a few more things he needed to do, a few tweaks he needed to make. “Alright, let’s test the power supply,” he mumbled to himself as he flicked a switch on the side. The machine began to hum, the lights flickering, but they popped off within a few seconds. Not the result he was hoping for.

“Hm…” he mumbled as he looked at the tall metallic tube. It rested in his laboratory, a bit taller than he was. Toward the bottom of the machine, on the inside of the teleportation area, there was an open hatch with a lot of wires exposed. He looked at this hatch, then dropped to his knees in front of it. “Probably got something disconnected,” he whispered as he began rummaging through the internals.

He was completely focused on the task in front of him. As he leaned forward, looking for a loose wire or poor connection, he was unaware of the lights turning back on, the hum that gently shook the machine, or the warmth that came from the walls. “Wait…” he mumbled at the last second, his ears finally picking up the whir of the engine. “Is that…”

The fox couldn’t complete his words. Before he had the chance, the machine blinked to life. In a flash everything that had been inside the teleportation chamber vanished, Tails’ lab now completely empty of life.

At least that’s how it appeared to anyone who might have looked in. The reality was far more dire.

“Ugh… my head,” Tails groaned as he held his skull. His eyes blinked open, an airy feeling filling his mind. Everything felt like it was spinning, and his eyes weren’t working right. Why did everything look blurry? And why was the ground so close? And why…

Tails blinked, the reality of things slamming down on him. “Wait,” he said, feeling the stress levels rise in his bloodstream. He looked around to see where he had landed. To his left was a blue and silver stool that was as tall as a skyscraper. To his right was a workbench, still overflowing with tools and notes, which looked higher than a mountain.

The fox froze, horror dawning on him with the realization. Though the teleportation machine was almost completed, he had never calibrated the scale settings. It had done exactly what it was built for, teleporting him from one side of the lab to the other. The only issue was that it shrank him to about one hundredth of his original size in the process.

“This is not good, this is not good,” he said as he stood up. To operate the machine he’d need to reach the control panel, then fix the scale factor. But there was no way he’d be able to do that at his current size. It would be like an ant trying to type away at a keyboard, or a…

Tails’ train of thought stopped abruptly as he heard a sound behind him, one accompanied by a huge thud in the ground. His mind went blank as he turned towards the origin of the noise, the front door to his lab.

The huge metal structure swung inwards, light flowing into the dimly lit room. It was so intense that Tails had to squint against it, his pupils struggling to make out the dark shape against the sky beyond.

A voice boomed in his ears, familiar, yet terrifying. “Hey Tails, you in here?” the giant called.

Tails felt his heart skip a beat as the image came into focus. The giant took another step in, his bare foot slamming on the unforgiving tile and sending a shockwave through the lab. Tails almost stumbled from the sheer force of it but kept himself standing. He stared at the object miles above him, the green eyes of his best friend in the entire world.

“S… Sonic…” the tiny fox mumbled. He had known Sonic for almost his entire life, but this felt like he was staring up at someone completely new. Previously, he had always looked up to Sonic like a hero, a big brother to teach him and help him out whenever he needed it. A confident, cool, always in control person who looked out for his little buddy. But this was different. Now Tails was looking up to him in a new way.

Sonic took another step forward, his gaze on the room around him. As his toes crashed into the tile, Tails realized that the gigantic hedgehog wasn’t wearing his trademark red and white sneakers. He had probably left them outside, not wanting to track anything into his lab.

Tails gulped, his mind kicking into gear again. He couldn’t just stand there in horror, he needed help! He needed to get Sonic’s attention before anything happened. If he could just do that, he could tell him everything that he needed to do and he’d be back to normal before the day was even over.

“Hey, Sonic!” the fox called out as he jumped into the air, his twin tails spinning as he took flight. Hurriedly he moved higher and higher, straining with the exertion of flying what felt like thousands of feet into the air. But at least he didn’t have to worry about the earthquakes generated by his friend’s steps.

“Sonic, Sonic!” he called out as he reached the blue boy’s eye line. Waiving desperately, he did everything he could to get his attention. Unfortunately, he was just too small to be noticed. “Come on, I’m right here!” he called as he buzzed at the tip of Sonic’s nose. “Just notice me and…”

His words were cut off as the giant green iris moved directly towards him. In an instant, he felt himself freezing with fear, Sonic’s gaze falling right onto him. Though it had been what he was hoping for, the feeling of being seen by someone so huge, so impossibly gigantic, still brought up a primal dread.

“S… S… S…” he stuttered, once again shocked.

Though he tried to form words, nothing would come to him. He just hovered there, right at the tip of his big brother’s nose, while Sonic took in his form. Unfortunately, it wasn’t going to be enough.

Before he could recover, he saw movement to his right. Glancing in that direction, he saw a huge wall of white cloth rapidly moving towards him. “Wha… AH!” the fox screamed as Sonic’s palm slapped his tiny body. The force of it was astounding, and it sent him spiraling through the air. Out of control, Tails fell all the way back to the ground where he bounced off of the tial.

“Got ya,” Sonic boomed from miles above. “That’ll teach you to buzz around my nose.”

“Ugh…” Tails groaned as he rolled onto his back. His body was throbbing from the pain of the hit, but at least he was still alive. “Sonic, I’m not a…” He took a sharp breath as he saw a shape looming over him.

With a mocking grin, Sonic looked down at the bug sized fox, his huge bare sole hanging in the air directly over his head. “Sorry,” the giant said. “But Tails doesn’t like bugs hanging around his lab.” The foot started to lower.

“N… no!” Tails screamed, dread filling him more than ever before. “Wait, Sonic! It’s me, it's Tails! I’m not a bug, I’m not a bug! Please no!”

The blue boy’s heel lowered to the tile, his skin pressing into the ground as his foot continued to lower towards the terrified little fox. Tails screamed as he saw the gigantic, hot sole lowering towards him, his body completely encased in the shadow.

“Sonic!” he shouted before the giant hedgehog’s foot made contact with his body. Sonic simply pressed his foot down, letting the ball of his foot roll over the little bug below him, completely apathetic to the agony it was enduring.

Tails was pressed against the sweaty bottom of Sonic’s foot, the pressure on him increasing as Sonic leaned on him more and more. The heat from it was tremendous, making the fox feel like he was trapped within an oven. Hot air surrounded him, burned his lungs as he breathed in. Plus there was the smell. The miasma of the stink that wafted off of his huge friend’s toes, that wormed it’s way up his nose and into his lungs with every breath. His eyes were watering as it continued.

“There you go, bug,” Sonic said from far overhead as he leaned forward more, his skin compressing against the ground and crushing the fox even more. Tails couldn’t even move, the grimey sole pinning him against the ground completely. It felt like his body was going to explode, and there was nothing he could do to stop it. But worse than the pain was the knowledge that it was Sonic doing it to him. Someone who he had always idolized and looked up to, that he knew was cooler than him but thought that it didn’t matter. Now he was pressed under his dirty, sweaty foot, about to be killed in the worst way possible.

Right as the pressure increased to a point where he thought he couldn’t take any more, the giant took some of the weight off of him. Gasping for air, Tails desperately tried to claw his way out from under the giant pad. But it was pointless, he was still far too weak to move.

Sonic brought his foot back, allowing his toes to roll over the little fox. Before he even knew where he was, the giant pressed the tip of his big toe into his body, grinding Tails into the dirt with the pad of his digit.

The tiny fox could do nothing but endure the pain as Sonic pressed on him more, smooshing his face into the disgusting toe pad over and over, before rolling his foot over him again. Once more the arc of his toes passed overhead, a moment of relief before the balls of his foot crushed into him.

“Alright,” Sonic said as he leaned forward, crushing Tails into the thickest part of his incredible feet. “I think I’ve played around with you enough. Maybe this’ll teach all your pesky bug brothers not to mess with my best buddy.”

Tails closed his eyes tight as Sonic leaned on him again, this time showing no restraint or compassion. That playful attitude was gone, he was going to crush him. Turn him into nothing more than a bloody mess of crushed fox, stuck to his foot.

He screamed, his words muffled by the hot flesh above him, his hands clawing desperately at the unforgiving flesh. The pressure just increased more and more, building to a point where Tails was sure he was going to be crushed. He could feel his bones on the verge of snapping, it would only take another second before it was done.

A sound from the other side of the room. ‘Buuzzzzzzzzz…’ went the machine.

“Huh?” Sonic said, his voice muffled by the tons of foot flesh pressing down on his friend. “What’s that?”

In that instant, the giant hedgehog’s attention was pulled away from the bug at his feet. After all, it was only a speck. A pathetic, insignificant lifeform that only deserved his attention for as long as it took to squish. With something more interesting popping into the world, the speck became just another piece of debris under his sole.

Instead of crushing his foot down and squishing Tails into nothing, he turned towards the machine and started walking over to it. For a brief moment Tails felt the pressure on him decrease. He thought he was saved, that something had spared him from the torture his best friend was putting him through. Then he felt himself lifting into the air.

“W… wait!” he screamed, the horrible truth becoming impossible to avoid. Though Sonic was no longer trying to crush him, he was still stuck to the massive blue hedgehog’s sole! The sweat and grime that oozed off of his skin clung to Tails’ body and held him tight, the surface tension making it impossible to tear himself away from the huge sole no matter how hard he tried.

“Sonic, please!” he screamed as the giant swung his foot forward, Tails still on the underside, then slammed it down as he went to take a step. In that single movement, all the weight that had been on the tiny fox’s body returned. Again, he was squashed into the unforgiving sole, tread upon as his brother crushed his body.

Sonic walked all the way across the lab to the machine, then leaned forward to study it. “Hm…” he hummed to himself, looking over the tube of metal and neon. It looked half finished, but he didn’t have half the engineering knowledge Tails did. To him, it just looked like another work in progress. “Eh, probably just another one of Tail’s experiments.”

He leaned back, resting his hands behind his head, unknowingly putting even more pressure on the little bug stuck to his sole. “Wonder where that fox is, anyway.” After a few thoughtful seconds, he shrugged. “Probably went out for supplies or something. Whatever. Guess I’ll just have lunch by myself today.”

He turned towards the door again, his huge feet slamming on the ground as he walked. Tails knew what was happening, but had no way to prevent it. Though he screamed and struggled, he was still just a speck of dirt on Sonic’s sole.

The hedgehog exited the door, went outside of the lab, then slid his hulking feet back into his shoes. With the buckles fastened, he began the long trek back to his home.

“Gah!” Tails coughed, gagging on the hedgehog sweat that had pooled around his mouth. The walk back had been absolute hell, but at least Sonic had finally slipped his huge feet out of his sneakers again. As Tails saw light, he could only hope that this was going to be the end of his torment. That somehow he would be let off of his best friend’s foot and finally get the help he so desperately needed.

That hope was dashed as Sonic placed his foot onto the firm wooden floor, crushing him once again.

“Ah, home sweet home,” the hedgehog said as he took a deep breath of air. For most people, it would have been a long jog from Tail’s laboratory all the way back to his house. But, for someone that could run at the speed of sound, it had only been a few minutes. Of course those minutes had felt like hours to the bug trapped within the steaming confines of his shoe. Trapped between his sole and the damp fabric of his sneakers, Tails had been in agony the entire time. Suffocated by steaming hot air, sweat rolling down his body, the pressure crushing him with every step. But at least now Sonic was home.

The blue boy stepped forward, the cycle of Tail’s pain continuing. Still unaware of his buddy, Sonic went to his kitchen and looked around at what he had left. “Hm… what to eat, what to eat…” he mumbled to himself as he searched. “Well, guess there’s always the old reliable. Chilli dogs.”

He grinned as he pulled a pack of hotdogs from his fridge.

By the time Sonic had plopped down on his couch, his chili dogs steaming on the table in front of him as the television played his favorite show, Tails was barely even awake. He had endured all of Sonic’s cooking underfoot, each step pressing him into the kitchen tile. No matter how many times the blue boy lifted his foot to take a step to the side, or cross the kitchen, he couldn’t pull himself free of the sweat and slime that had glued him to the giant’s sole. Eventually, he stopped trying altogether and simply accepted that this was his new role in the world. Once a brilliant inventor and best friend to the greatest hero who ever lived, now just a bug to be crushed under his toes.

“Finally,” Sonic said as he leaned forward and grabbed one of the chili dogs. He sniffed it and let the lovely scent fill his nose, then leaned back on the couch as he took his first bite. Though the movement meant almost nothing to him, for Tails it was a lifesaver. As Sonic leaned back, his feet moved forward, all their weight resting on their heels as his sole came up just slightly.

“Ugh…” Tails groaned, seeing the light of the world once again. It took him a few seconds to realize what was going on, to see that Sonic’s feet were no longer pressing him into the ground. When it did finally register, he felt a flicker of hope in his heart. Maybe now he could peel himself off!

“Er!” he groaned with exertion as he tried to force himself free of the sweat. His body ached with every movement but he knew that if he didn’t pull himself free now, he might never get another chance. He kept struggling against the force that held him, eventually managing to pull one arm free of Sonic’s sweat. The other came loose after, then his legs and chest. Finally, he shoved himself off of the huge expanse of flesh, his tiny body landing on the ground in a thin pool of foot slime.

“Finally!” he shouted, ecstatic to simply be free of Sonic’s sole. He jumped up as soon as he could, then ran out from under the still imposing blue foot. It was only when he came directly in front of Sonic that he stopped.

Staring upwards, he felt so intimidated. Sonic was above him, his huge feet on either side as his eyes locked on the television. In his huge hand was a chili dog, one that he nibbled at as he went.

How was Tails going to get his attention now? He was probably too engrossed with his food for him to notice a pint sized fox at his feet. Before, he had been swatted out of the air because he looked too much like a bug, and that was when Sonic hadn’t even been distracted.

Tails shook his head, knowing that he’d need to think of a better plan. One that didn’t have as many risks as all the other things he had done so far. The last thing in the world he wanted was for Sonic to just step on him again.

As he thought, he didn’t notice Sonic lean forward. The hedgehog’s mouth opened as he moved the chili dog into his maw, then bit down. The food crushed under his teeth, half of it ripping off and dropping onto his tongue, the other part jostled by the impact. Some of the chili slipped off of the back. In a great glob of meat and sauce, it plopped off of the hotdog and fell.

Tails barely even saw the shadow before the huge chunk slammed into his body. “Ah!” he screamed as he suddenly found himself encased in still warm chili sauce, the glob oozing all around him as it splattered against the ground. “What the… wait. No, no, this is not good!”

“Whoops,” he heard a sound from above him. Before Tails could try and free himself, he felt something huge slam into him, then drag him into the sky. By the time he popped his head free of the glob, Sonic had already scooped it all up on his finger.

Tails’ heart jumped as he saw what awaited him. The glob of chili was resting on the tip of Sonic’s finger, his huge face looming directly in front of him, taking up almost the entirety of his vision.

“Dropped a bit,” Sonic said, his words booming in his little buddy’s ears as he stared in terror. That fear only doubled with his next words. “But hey, five second rule.”

“What?” Tails said, blood draining from his face. “No, Sonic! I’m not food, I’m not food!” But the hedgehog was already moving. His mouth opened, the slimy maw now wide in front of him. He could see the tendrils of slime that bridged the distance from the roof to his tongue, the bits of mashed up hotdog that were still coating his cheeks, the discolored pools around his brutal teeth.

“No, please!” he begged, pleading as Sonic moved him closer. “Sonic, I’m not food!”

But Sonic couldn’t hear him. After all, he was just a bug.

The giant blue boy popped his finger into his mouth, his lips forming a seal around it as he sucked all of the contents off of the tip. His tongue moved over it, detaching the glob of chili as spit moved around the inside of his mouth.

“Mmm~” he hummed in delight as the tastes washed over his palette. Slowly, he pulled his finger back out, his lips rolling over anything that was left and trapping it inside his maw. Sauce, globs of meat, and a tiny little fox.

Tails was left screaming as Sonic’s tongue pushed him around the pitch black inside of his mouth. He screamed for help, begged him not to do this, cried out for anything that would save him from his fate.

His prayers were silenced as his best friend forced the contents of his mouth to the back, then simply…

‘Gulp.’

“Ah~” Sonic moaned as he opened his mouth to reveal the clean inside, all the contents now moving down through his body, soon to rest in his stomach. “Man, Tails picked a bad day to miss lunch. I make a mean chili dog.”
